Jacob has spent time nurturing and growing himself, his organization and employees. During this episode, he shared how his experience growing his organization has helped him uncover best practices for strategy and leadership, such as:

  • Self-reflection in all areas of life can be an impactful part of developing leadership skills that can be applied both within and outside of the workplace. It’s important for leaders to work on themselves and demonstrate leadership traits in order to inspire and develop other strong leaders within their organization.
  • Aspiring leaders can enhance their skill sets by joining an external CEO or entrepreneurship group or forum. These types of peer groups support experiential learning between members, equipping leaders with more tools to grow themselves and their organizations.
  • Leaders can foster strategy within their organization by engaging their team(s) in an annual off-site planning session. Taking the time to get everyone on the same page to both acknowledge past accomplishments and look forward to the coming year(s) to develop priorities and responsibilities to align the team and move forward with the organization’s plan.
  • It’s important for leaders to understand when a team member is not being accountable for their work and to address this issue head-on. To mitigate performance issues, leaders can work with their teams on individual goals and KPIs to help foster an aligned and accountable team.
